Annual Gala Celebration . . .
 

Al Rice and his 1934 Rolls-Royce Sports Saloon will be part of the Sept. 27 gala benefiting the Dearborn community Fund.  The Rolls-Royce --- which comes complete with its own bar --- will be one of several classic cars from the 1930s and '40s to be on display that evening.

 Community Fund gala

Evening includes ‘Wayne Newton concert,
                   display of classic cars

Tickets are still available for the Sept. 27 gala benefiting the Dearborn Community Fund, and celebrating the start of the second professional theater season at Dearborn’s Ford Community & Performing Arts Center.

The black tie-optional event theme is "There’s No Business Like Show Business," and will feature a 1930s and ‘40s feel to the evening. Ticket holders to the gala will enjoy a dinner catered by Andiamo’s, a display of 1930s and ‘40s classic cars, premier seating for the evening’s concert by the legendary Wayne Newton and post-concert desserts and dancing in the center’s Great Hall.

Gala tickets are $250 per person and can be purchased by phone by calling the center’s box office at 943-2354. Gala tickets include free valet parking.

The Dearborn community Fund is a private non-profit organization helping to strengthen cultural and recreation projects that enrich the city’s ‘quality of life.

"We’re thrilled to host this great event, especially on an evening that will mark the start of the new

-theater season at the center in such a dramatic way," said organizer Emmajean Woodyard. "Wayne Newton will be the highlight of an evening that will be filled with excitement, and it’s all for a very good cause."

The fund was established in the year 2000 and is led by an independent :board of directors. Contributions to the fund tare tax-deductible. Co-sponsoring the gala with the Dearborn Community Fund are Ford Motor Co. and Oakwood Healthcare System. Serving as honorary co-chairs for the evening will be Donald and Mary Kosch, the owners of Dearborn Sausage Co. Mr. Kosch also serves as a member of the Fund’s board of directors.

Following Wayne Newton’s concert, gala ticket holders will be invited to enjoy dancing and desserts in the center’s Great Hall, with music provided by the Simone Vitale Band, performing classic songs from the likes of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Louis Armstrong.

Gala ticket holders will have the opportunity to get an up close look at the classic cars that will be on display. Among the vehicles that will be part of the gala are:

• A 1932 Lincoln KB coupe, owned by the Gilmore Museum.

• A 1993 Lincoln KB convertible coupe, owned by Rocky Romeo.

• A 1934 Rolls-Royce Sport Saloon, owned by Al Rice.

• A 1934 Pierce Arrow convertible coupe, owned by Larry Seyfarth.

• A 1936 Lincoln K LeBaron coupe, owned by Carl House.

• A 1948 Lincoln Continental Cabriolet, owned by Rockey Romeo.

• A 1948 Chrysler New Yorker, owned by Donald Kosch.
