The following are the
results of the subdivision ballot for future building
guidelines. The letter from the City of Dearborn reads as
follows:

Dear resident,
Attached are the results of the recent ballot
circulated in the Golfcrest/Country Club Estates subdivision.
We are pleased to report that there was a 71% response rate from all
households in the two subdivisions.
The council will be setting up a meeting with the
Administration and neighborhood representatives to review these
results and develop a policy for review of compatibility in new and
renovated construction in the neighborhood.
It is important to stress again that the design
elements provide guidelines for review. The issue had been
raised that there was an attempt to re-establish through a
"back door" process the deed restrictions that had lapsed
by their own terms in the 1960s. The City cannot do that and
has had no intention to do so.
This advisory vote will
provide guidance for the compatibility review process. It does
clearly establish those design elements that have overwhelming
support from the property owners. There may still be
disagreement over interpretation or the clarity of the instrument
but that is minor compared to the overall message contained in the
result.
