Dear Golfcrest Country Club
Estates Residents,
Subject: GCCCA Annual
Meeting - 2001
The Annual meeting of the
Golfcrest Country Club Estates Subdivision was held on October 29,
2001 in the First Presbyterian Church on North Brady Street. A
social hour began this event at 6:30 P.M. and the meeting commenced
promptly at 7:30 P.M. The GCCCA Board hosted the event and did an
excellent job of delivering a memorable and very worthwhile meeting.
The President commended all of
the Annual Meeting attendees for their vision and support of GCCCA
in the past and hopefully in the future. Due to their
appreciated efforts, this is the reason we
are here today. Because of their support, over 76% of the residents
believe in the association, and 76% are members!!! All other
associations, even Springwells, Dearborn Hills, Historical Homes,
etc. are lucky to have 25-30%.
The present Board of Directors was
recognized, honored and thanked for serving and for their
untiring efforts devoted to the GCCCA cause. The present 2001 Board
of Directors was composed of the following members:
Al Rice - President
Charlie Fellrath - Vice President, Bylaws
Darlene Bartkowiak - Secretary
Jeff Beuckelaere - Treasurer
Joe Agius - Bylaws Committee
Allie Berry - Social & Welcoming Committees
Jimmy Ferris - Sgt-At-Arms
Tom Myler - Past President, Consultant for Conformity &
Compatibility
Al Rice addressed the many
Accomplishments the GCCCA Board of Directors achieved during
the past year. They are composed of:
-- Published and passed out a
new Directory to all GCCCA members.
-- Instituted a highly functional and useful www.gccca.com
web site that is highly regarded in the community and accessed
worldwide.
-- The City of Dearborn recognizes us and keeps us informed
of pertinent issues.
-- Worked with the City of Dearborn including City Council
members who are continuing to review a proposed Compatibility
ordnance that will have tremendous impact on our neighborhood.
-- Held a GCCCA Dinner/Dance at the Dearborn Country Club.
-- Ordered an Entrance Sign that will be placed either on
Brady or Golfcrest.
-- 76% of our residents are now members of the association.
-- Supported Dearborn Federation of Civic Associations and
provide a web site for them.
-- Addressed ZBA Appeals.
-- Negotiated a super deal for
Fairlane Club membership that tremendously benefits all GCCCA members.
-- Set up a Red Cross Blood Drive with First Presbyterian
Church (tentatively March 8).
-- The State of Michigan has renewed our license again as a
viable Association.

is getting better and better every day! Future listings will

Past Presidents & Officers:
We can't forget all of those who served our organization in the
past -- John Anderson, Jerry Assenmacher, Bob Brasie, Carolyn &
Bob Buell, Sandy Butler, Joy & Roy Callan, Sam Gemus, Jan
Holmes, John Moynihan, Tom Myler, George Nichols, Richard Nordstrom,
Joe Padesky, Lynn & Chris Polaczyk, Jack Ridenour, Bruce
Simpson, Fred Staples, Jerry Strayer, Irene Tamagne, Bob Tessmer,
and Wilfred Was. Please advise us if you served on the GCCCA Board
over the last 50 years and we missed your name.
New Officers: The primary
objective of the annual meeting was to elect four new subdivision
officers. The election went extremely smooth and everyone at the
meeting was in agreement with the four elected members. Three
members, Joe Agius, Allie Berry and Randy Doran were elected to
three years terms, and Michael Berry (Willoway) was elected to a
two-year term. The new Board consists of:
Al Rice
Charlie Fellrath
Darlene Bartkowiak
Joe Agius
Allie
Berry
Randy Doran
Michael
Berry
Tom Myler
The following two Subjects were
resolved:
Conduct two formal Semi-Annual
meetings per year - April and October. The GCCCA Association voted and the motion was approved by a
majority.
Ravine & Grade Regulations:
Mr. Walter Roney presented a motion to place the matter of a change
in any grade or contour or property, a priority on the agenda with a
view to insist on compliance with City, State and Federal
Ordinances. The natural grade or contour of the land shall be
changed or altered by fill or excavation on lots 21, 22, 23, 24, 63, 64, 80, 81, 114, 115, 129,
130, 155, 156, 157, 166, 167, 174, 179, inclusive 201, 202, 208,
209, 215, 216, 217, 220, and 221, nor shall the ravine adjoining
said lots be filled, or the natural flow of water therein be
diverted or obstructed in any way. The GCCCA Association voted and
the motion was unanimously approved.
Other concerns raised and
discussed included:
Please Vote - Linda
Padgett reminded everyone to vote on Tuesday, Nov. 6. Al
rice added that eh City average City-wide Voter Turnout was 34% in
the September Primary, but turnout for residents in GCCCA was less
than 16%. How disappointing! This was the lowest
turnout in the City! Don't forget that Absentee Ballots are
available.
Entrance Sign - Al Rice
updated the residents on the status, timing, and proposed location of the new Entrance
Sign.
Yield and Stop Signs -
Michael M. Berry requested that the members in attendance sign the
petition to be presented to the traffic department.
Motorized Scooters - are illegal
on public streets and sidewalks. Please call the Dearborn Police at
943-2241if you see violators.
Improved Street Signs -
MaryLee Myler recommended that we ask the City to install new street
signs. Joe Agius said the black street signs in the Historical
District cost $175 each.
Improved Street Lighting
- If residents are interested in duplicating the lights in the River
Bend Association (Alexandrine, Law and River Lane), Al Rice noted that the cost would be approximately
$2,000 - $2,500 per household.
Brentwood Drive - has
incorrect sign street signage. John Anderson proposed that they be
corrected.
In the Future, in
addition to the second semi-meeting in April, we hope to have three
social functions a year - Dinner at Dearborn Country Club in June,
and a Picnic in the Park or Block Street Picnic (contact Lisa Godin if you
can help her), and the GCCCA Board is open to suggestions for a 3rd
function.
Mosquitos - Please talk
to your neighbors because we must increase participation or risk
losing the spraying service. The cost per homeowner was only
$120 in 2001.
Current Home Issues and ZBA Appeals -- we need
your support - letters, FAXes, e-mail to City Hall.
300 Golfcrest - Nov. 14 ZBA
Appeal - The homeowner lowered the roof height and complied with 40'
Front Set Back. We thank the homeowner for his efforts.
350 Golfcrest - Nov. 14 ZBA Appeal - ZBA ruled that the
construction must comply with 40' Front Set Back.
371 Woodcrest - Plans were submitted and are being reviewed
for Compatibility.
435 Woodcrest - 1-Story Home plans Compatibility and approved
by GCCCA; future Swimming Pool possible.
